After listening to some of the presentations from my classmates, it is clear that we are all interested in very different and interesting texts. I found the diversity of the texts presented was very refreshing and made it more interesting to listen to. I think this tells me that we have a very diverse class each with their own unique taste. I think the contexts we grew up in, the people we grew up around, and personal preference might account for these differences especially because the texts shared in class seemed so personal to each individual.
I had heard of or was familiar with most of the texts presented except for the band Incubus and the band The Grateful Dead. These are bands that I have never been exposed to but I found very interesting to learn about. I have heard of but am not familiar with How I Met Your Mother, The Golden Years, or Fly Away Home but they all seemed very personal to my classmates that presented them and I found that interesting to listen to. I also found it interesting that one of my classmates discussed My Sister's Keeper because that text was on my canon. However she discussed how much the book meant to her and how much she did not enjoy the movie. I enjoyed the movie very much and I think it's interesting how we have different view points on the same topic.
