Miles, Donna. "Pearl Harbor Parallels 9-11." Pearl Harbor Parallels 9-11. Military.com, 7 Dec. 2006. Web. 06 Mar. 2014.

This article describes some of the similarities between the Pearl Harbor attacks and the attacks of 9/11. Miles quotes Adm. Mike Mullen, chief of naval operations from 2007 to 2011, when he described the situation surrounding WWII, "There were clearly two competing visions of the world: one of freedom, the other of tyranny, and tyranny appeared to have the upper hand.” And when describing the situation today with terrorism he said, "the struggle we currently face is also about two competing visions of the future and our vision of hope and prosperity and a secure future for our children (and) all children." This article also talks about how President Bush quoted President Roosevelt during the National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day 2006 proclamation by saying, "We are going to win the war and we are going to win the peace that follows,"
I think this article will be a good contribution to Inquiry 2 because it gives another perspective of the similarities between Pearl Harbor and 9/11. It comes from a military perspective and compares the two events through the eyes of the government and military. I also found it very interesting that in the more recent war America was involved in, President Bush found inspiration and motivation from President Roosevelt who was President during the Pearl Harbor attacks. I think applying this more recent event to learning about Pearl Harbor will help make my paper more relevant.
